JAG Jobs for America s Graduates
Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people who have serious barriers to graduation and/or employment. In more than three decades of operation, JAG has delivered consistent, compelling results – helping over one million young people stay in school through graduation, pursue postsecondary education and secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities.
Jobs for America’s Graduates Multi-Year programs:
Learning
- Project based learning, which is used to energize classroom sessions, anchor key learning, discover best practices and demonstrate the power of activity-based and adventure-based learning. Project-based learning activities enhance their transition which include: job shadowing, guest speakers from employers in the community, job interview role plays, employer/college/student choice related field trips.
Community Service
- Teacher design community-based learning activities to encourage involvement and attachment to the community to emphasize citizenship and responsibility using the following techniques-service learning projects, volunteerism, fundraising, and job shadowing.
Career Club
- Students become members of the JAG Career Association, a student-led chapter designed to develop, practice and refine critical skills delivered in the classroom. Chapter members elect officers, serve on committees, develop and execute a plan of work, participate in skills-based competitions and seek recognition for chapter projects and accomplishments.
12-Month Follow-Up
- Teacher maintain contact with participants for a 12-month follow up period. Teacher is held accountable for their graduates to pursue postsecondary education, enter the workplace, and/or enlist and serve in the military.
